But yes, Kitaro’s the big one, since this time it’s a theatrical feature, though not much longer than a regular episode. Plus, it’s from the 90s adaptation (which is my personal favorite), and it features the Japanese yokai vs. Western (mostly Universal movie) classic monsters, on a train that can fly and travel through time! What more could you ever ask for?
Well, you could ask for Yokai Hunter, too, and that’s what we’re also giving you! A short but overlooked classic by Tezuka Award winner and board member Morohoshi Daijiro, this series pulls together the best of Kitaro and Professor Munakata. So for those of you who like your horror to be a bit more sophisticated, with archaeology and folklore thrown into the mix, this series is for you. So tune in for more soonish, and come back tomorrow for some more normal releases!
