Bakudan vol. 02 ch. 12 (Manga)

Here’s Chapter 12 (Bakudan manga): MediaFire

    1009-HIT COMBO!
Okay, let’s see… Death-defying trials? Check. Deadly animals used for fighting purposes? Check. Good, he’s back to the Miyashita we all know and love, the sentimentality of the past few chapters had me worried. Still, you can’t have a heavyweight boxing manga without at least once referencing the legendary champion’s greatest quote, and in that sense this manga delivers!

A magnificent release as always, my dear friends from Hokuto no Gun.

However, it has come to my attention your brief, yet correct, description of the Vespa Holyshitis. According to the roman documents known as Chronicles of Blood by the historian Tiberius Nosensius, gladiators would perfect their combat skills by confronting this very species, enhancing their speed, stamina and strength knowing the risk of getting poisoned by their stings. Nosensius does make note that those who benefited from this regime were far much dangerous than their armed comrades and I quote : “Their fists, those survived a hailstorm of pain, were now baptizing themselves with the blood of their opponents. Tartarus hath no fury like this kind of combat”.

Incidently, because the special training required the Vespa Holyshitis to remain on a closed chamber, special wooden boxes were commissioned. Because of it, this special brand of gladiators were dubbed “Boxers” and, as if we were not amazed enough, because they were slaves coming from Africa, Britannia and the Caribbean, they would later teach this “Boxing” to their peers, therefore explaining why most of the best boxers hail from such lands.

On a final note, Muhammad Ali, whose great great…great great grandfather was the famous boxer Cassius Clayson (born of a viking warrior and his african consort in case you are wondering), would pay homage to the role the Vespa Holyshitis played on the history of boxing with his quote of “Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee” (rumors said Ali confused bee with wasp after a street fight he had with a promising Japanese fighter known as Tohru Rikiishi left him slightly confused).

This is Professor Munakata, hope we enjoyed this history lesson.
