And despite the high proportion of our staff that enjoys tokusatsu, our first live-action project is not tokusatsu; it’s a movie about a professional gambler and the insane bets he takes and how he wins them! Why are we doing this kind of project, you may ask? Well, Question-Asking Joe, this movie is based on a manga by none other than the one-and-only, incomparable Akira Miyashita himself! So download this movie, and if you like it, then look forward to when we do the sequel and the manga!

This project wouldn’t have been possible without SonicKrazy from FKMTkrazy, who provided invaluable help in making the translation more authentic! He’s got a good collection of Fukumoto manga over at that site, notably Akagi and Kaiji, so if you find you like the gambling genre, go give them a visit and check those manga out! And the new series just keep on a-rollin’! Now like I keep saying, there’s a little something for everybody here at HnG (unless you’re into moe/loli), and true to that, this series is quite unlike any other series we’ve done in the past. This series follows the adventures of Professor Munakata, an epically-mustached folklorist who I can best describe by saying is a cross between Hercule Poirot and Indiana Jones, as he pursues the origins of legends and fables to find their sometimes surprising truths. This series is very educational but is just as thrilling and exciting, so if you want to know more about ancient cultures and the origins of folklore, or you just want some good mystery stories, this series is for you! Also, if you like Master Keaton, because I hear this is very much like that.

Anyway, this series is mainly a pet project between myself and long-time HnG patriot DestroyerRing, who introduced me to this series and helped with proofreading. And again, say your thanks to kazuhiko1412 for the editing! EDIT FROM CHAOS: Ladies and gentlemen, I bear some sad news. I have just learned today that Calzone, our main Hokuto/Hara editor, died in a car accident a month ago. He was one of the most dedicated members of Hokuto no Gun and he was a great Hokuto fan, and he will be sorely missed. This is the first time I can remember HnG losing a member to death, but what’s more important is that we take some time to think on his family who have lost a loving son and brother. It’s not easy for me to say all this, especially on a happy Kinnikuman release day, but it’s what needs to be done.
In memoriam Calzone, 1986-2014. RIP
