Welcome back people, you’re just in time to see Kinnikuman’s first opponent in the next episode of the Devil Chojin arc. I’m sure you can make a 1000 jokes about this guy in the picture like “MP3 Man” or “iPod/iPhone Man” (WalkMan would’ve been a cooler name, but I’m fairly sure some other company would’ve taken action), or wondering how practical it was to carry that thing around town (Yes, people had giant pockets to fit these cassette players), but after seeing what he did in the previous episode, it’s gonna be a dangerous match for Kinnikuman! Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna be searching for some old school mixtapes.

That SteCase King (Well I don’t know what they call hom that way in Japanese, if his full is Stereo Cassette King…) was really epic ;)

The Japanese absolutely love abbreviating stuff. Like “Digital Camera” becoming “DigiCame” or “Pro Wrestling” becoming “ProWres”. And yes, “Stereo Cassette” to “SteCase” is one such abbreviation. But we don’t abbreviate it that way in English; that’s why I translated it as “Stereo Cassette King”. I just think it’s rather silly to leave in the uniquely Japanese abbreviations.
Incidentally, that’s why I use “KFTH” in Karate Bu instead of “Kangokou”, because the former is more like how we’d abbreviate a school name in English.
I do agree with you. Particularly that SteCase needs a second S if it’s really the abreviation of Stereo Cassette lol
