So, with the SnK anime fully translated and Bo-bobo translated up to episode 50, I figured that I’d have enough time to head another project, but I don’t want to put extra work on the rest of Hokuto no Gun, or the HnG-Hajike guys, so I’ll be putting together another team to sub another anime. Anyone interested, please comment here.
The anime I am planning on subbing is Sakigake!! Otokojuku. I’m pretty sure most of you have heard of it. I was mostly disappointed that there were only 6 subbed episodes on the net, and I figured I may as well change that.
Anyway, I will need a timer, a TL checker (will ask Wimmo if no one is available), a typesetter, and an encoder.
Please note that this will not slow down any of our other projects.

Would it be possible for you to concentrate on Kinnikuman rather than start a new project?
I’m only mentioning it as it was stated in a previous post that you would be subbing the series.
I did say we’d be subbing the series, but Wimmo’s the one in charge of it, and not me. I just provide translation checks, I’m not doing much of the work. Therefore, I’m not the one that needs to concentrate on it. So please don’t worry. Wimmo will get the first episode of Kinnikuman up soon.
Cool, thanks for the response. Good luck with all the series, it’s nice to see a group subbing forgotten animes of the past rather than follow the current trend and sub current animes that are already being subbed by multiple groups.

Episode 1 is done and about to go in for encoding so stay tuned for a release real soon! Kinnikuman is being started right at Episode 1 of the original series and we plan to see it through to the very end.

I’ll let you know once an encoder gets on board. I’ve found some DVD raws online, and I just have to find out if the encoder will work with them. If the encoder doesn’t like the raws, I’ll ask you for them.
Huzzah! I’m glad to hear it, I was so dissapointed at the end of episode six that I wouldn’t get to see anymore of the delightful madness. I wish I could help out, but I’m not familiar enough with Aegisubs yet to do much more than Quality Check.

Sorry, I didn’t knew this site existed since recenlty, i am an old user from heartofmadness.com and was wondering since SnK is 26 episdes and I can only download 22 how come u say its finished? Sorry to bother. Thx in adnvace for ur answer!
No problem. I think its like 8 episodes per dvd so there is only 5 or 6 dvds in total.
I will upload the VOBs to the usual place ;-)
@kasheto88: I only said SnK is fully translated. There are plenty of other things that need to be done before we can release those last four episodes, and I’m not in charge of them. See our progress report for more details.

We still need an encoder and a typesetter, and a TL checker if possible.
I am currently uploading the first episode to the VOB bank. The VOB quality is really good with no deinterlacing needed so your encoder will have an easy job!

it hasn’t been a month since I suggested this project to Anime-Aoi since I thought they were old-skool loving group (they refused regrettably)

YESSS SAKIGAKE!!!!!!! I love that anime another group subbed up to like episode 6 or something. Man if I knew how to do this stuff I would totally help. If you guys pull enough members to do this that would be freaking awesome!
since no one commented, I have a suggestion..
I read in a post before that since you can’t keep up with this many series and their length, you formed several teams in order to ease the work..
since that’s the point, maybe you shouldn’t recruit.. and instead look for a joint with an existing group!
there are many groups out there that are willing to do everything besides tl and tlc.. (if the series was of their like of course)
for example, Shinsen-subs.. they now are down to only one tl with the other positions filled.. if they liked the series it would be done in a flash..
or Formula-subs.. they currently doesn’t have a tl but they have a mad timer and an encoder (who’s even in developing team of codec h264) dunno if they would like the series..
in the other hand we have C1Anime, they have a trend of doing an oldy with their current recent animes.. they did Peter Pan, Daddy’s Long Legs, and now they are doing Perrine which is a WMT series.. I am sure they could give you a hand..
there is also Live-Evil which mostly do oldies but I heard they are in need of some timers (that was 7-8 months ago..) they could give you a hand!
well you know the formula now..
and if that didn’t work for you, write a recruitment in AnimeSuki forum.. it’s the most famous fansub-related forum.. almost all the good groups have members there..
that said, if I could give you a hand I wouldn’t hesitate to see my favourite anime subbed.. but I know nothing..

And I think we’ll be fine with just recruiting people. After all, managing our own projects does give us a bit more say in how the stuff is released.

Neat stuff, sort of great to see another series I’m doing the manga for getting subbed. (then again, it’s weird that you’re doing Bo-bobo, Kinnikuman and Otokojuku, all of which I’m doing the manga for)

Yeah, I agree with SystematicChaos 100% on the ‘joint’ issue. Why? Because I tried it once and it was a big pain in the ass! For instance, I had to communicate with double the amount of people, and I had to frequently communicate with arrogant and annoying fanboys who were beyond my control. 1 Project = 1 Project Leader/Overseer worked quite smoothly for my projects. Looking at the above, I presume SC and Wimmo feel the same about theirs.

I would just like to say that I’ve been DYING to watch Sakigake and cannot wait for subs! Though, it’s considerably shorter than Kinikkuman, right?

but I don’t think it’s what you think of, when you seek joints, as I seen by many groups, they would appoint someone to the position you lack/need and then you would communicate with him alone as the project leader..
dunno if you dealt with people who would do otherwise but this is what the most groups like..
anyway it’s up to you guys, do it your way.. we’re all behind ya’!!

Well… Wimmo already went ahead and got the vobs for episodes 1 and 2, so I think we’ll be doing them from there.
It’s not so much of a matter of elitism as it is my OCD… :p
Unfortunately, until we get a typesetter and encoder, we won’t be releasing any. So if you guys want to see these episodes, try and find some people to help! I’ve been doing all I can but I can’t find anyone yet…
I think it’s best to start from ep 1 because ADTRW encodes aren’t that good to be honest.
Yeah please start on this one. If I could help I honestly would but I don’t know anything about this stuff. I honestly think that if u guys subbed sakigake otokojuku tht’d be the best thing ever next to all your hokuto releases, I think that doesn’t go for just me either so please try and find the ppl you need!
