Hokuto no Gun has finally dipped into the territory that is Japanese live-action! And despite the high proportion of our staff that enjoys tokusatsu, our first live-action project is not tokusatsu; it’s a movie about a professional gambler and the insane bets he takes and how he wins them! Why are we doing this kind of project, you may ask? Well, Question-Asking Joe, this movie is based on a manga by none other than the one-and-only, incomparable Akira Miyashita himself! So download this movie, and if you like it, then look forward to when we do the sequel and the manga!
This project wouldn’t have been possible without SonicKrazy from FKMTkrazy, who provided invaluable help in making the translation more authentic! He’s got a good collection of Fukumoto manga over at that site, notably Akagi and Kaiji, so if you find you like the gambling genre, go give them a visit and check those manga out! Cool, I hope I will like this as much as I like Kaiji and Akagi.
In it’s own way, Akagi is one of the manliest manga out there along with HnK, Toriko, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Well this was unexpected and very appreciated! You know there are a few Bebop SP’s that never got translated, maybe you could look into those?
Glad you liked it! As a matter of fact the Be-bop SPs were probably going to be the next live-action project we did, but we were hoping to tackle the anime first (we’re doing that with Saizen as a matter of fact) and we don’t have the raws. So if you know anyone that has the DVDs, let me know, otherwise we may have to run another donation drive.
Exciting news! I saw one of the SPs, the 2004 one to be specific, and never expected it to be subbed, I wish I had archived that RAW, I will try to find it and come back to you if I do. Also, if you are open to more suggestions for deliquent shows/movies that never got translated to tackle, I would be very pleased to see QP, Rokudenashi Blues, neither the manga or the show have been fully translated, and Kyou Kara Ore Wa translated.
Out of curiosity, as anyone at Hnk seen the Osu! Karate Bu live action? Not that I expect it to be any good, but I can’t help but to be curious as to what their Takagi looks like.
Aw crap, forgot about that one… I’ve seen it, raw just popped up not too long ago. I for sure want to translate it, but I want to at least wait till we’re done volume 15 of the manga.
