This manga’s much darker than others of the Sensei… I can tell that he always gave great importance to the female figures in the male heroes’ lives. Generally speaking, an hero by Ishinomori is defined by his relationship with the motherly figure, and/or with the woman he loves, who becomes his “new” motherly figure. Good heroines are always “mothers”, either to the men they love and/or to a much younger brother/son/teammate. Evil women are instead pictured as bad mothers… I guess that this series isn’t more mysoginist, but rather more mysanthropist than his other mangas…
Meg, looked the way you say that makes a lot of sense with this manga. I’m remembering just now the 8th chapter, who, precisely, features a mother.
